Christmas Projects

Christmas time is always a busy time for us. My husband works crazy long hours so that makes the time we get with him time we cherish as a family. I have started a new tradition of making Christmas gifts for our family. I love being able to make something that I think that person will enjoy. This year I made the grandparents picture boards where they can hang pictures of the grand kids.

I found this idea on pintrest and modified it to what I needed. My mom who lives far away from both of her grandbabies loves this. As did the other grandparents.

The other projects that involved the little one. We got some canvas totes from the craft store, painted his hands and made hand print bags for the grandma's
I also stamped on the bags as well I thought they turned out great.

I hope your Christmas was full of family and great memories. I can't wait to scrap book our memories!

I have a new toy I mean laptop

My husband was nice to me and let me order my new laptop last Friday and it arrived today! I am now really happy and not afraid that my computer will crash at any moment! I have spent sometime trying to get everything updated and set up. the least favorite part of getting a new computer is getting it set back up to the way I use it. my bookmarks, my settings. All the fun. I will be uploading more projects this week. I am getting ready for my card workshop this coming Saturday! I will post pictures of the cards that we are making I love these cards they are from the Frosted Workshop on the go card kit. So easy to put together and look so nice when they are put together!

Hope your week is a great one, the weather is changing and fall is becoming winter!

Pajamas!

As you know by now I have a 3 year old and well he grows like a little weed. every year at this time we are are packing away the summer cloths and pulling out winter stuff and praying that we can get through the first few months without having to replace too much. Pajamas are one item of clothing that it seems he is always out growing them. I decided to try my hand at sewing some for him this year. he only wears them to bed and well he can pick the fabric and it is a win win!
I got one pair done so far (should really get going on the others) I think I did a pretty good job for a first try (ok 2nd but the first time doesn't count as I didn't have a pattern) He seems to like them. Best part is that I made them WAY to big and just hemed up the legs and he should be able to grow into them! at least thats the plan!

Quiet Time Buckets

My 3 year old has decided that he doesn't need to take naps anymore. Little does he know that mommy still needs her down time! So after searching on pinterest for ideas for quiet time buckets we headed to the dollar store to find some activities for him to do on his own in his room while mommy takes a much needed afternoon break! It worked great for the first week and well now when I tell him it is quiet time he would rather take a nap. Although he doesn't really nap. On to plan B, whatever that is we are figuring it out as we go. but here is what I came up with for the buckets.
I used my cricut and some vinyl to cut out the days.

Everyday has something a little different!

Open Crop Nights

I have been holding open crop nights once a month this fall I have been able to get a lot done during this time. I have also found that my helper likes to take part and do his own projects! I have a few older stamps (mostly wooden stamps that I don't use any more) that I have saved for him to use. Also some of my older stamp pads or ones that I have found on clearance at the craft stores. I set him up with his own little table and some scrap paper and he goes right to work.

I love that he loves to do his own "stamping project". He also likes to send his own thank you cards and birthday cards.

getting started!

"hmm which stamp to use?"
I hope he continues to find his creative side!

Hang with me

So my laptop is dying and therefore I am not uploading my pictures to my laptop at the moment. I have already backed up everything on my external hard drive. I am take too many pictures to risk loosing any of them. I am really hoping to have a new laptop real soon!

I am still crafting and will have a lot of new posts once this computer issue is resolved! I have several projects that I have finished that I can't wait to share with you!

Hope your week has been great! We are trying to get over our colds around here and not keep passing them back and forth to each other. So far the 3 year old has recovered the most and well I am hoping I will turn that corner soon! Praying that the husband doesn't catch this cold. As we are heading into his busy season for work!

Warm Winter Wishes

This week I am getting ready to do a craft fair and have been playing with some of my winter stamps. If you know me I love penguins they are my favorite thing about winter! So when I saw this stamp set I just HAD to have it! This stamp set is from our hostess stamps. If you Host a party with me and your party reaches $150 in sales you too could own this stamp set.
I started with a red base for the card added colonial white inked around the colonial white with chocolate ink (Z2111) using the Artiste cartridge I cut two of the same shapes one at 2.5 and the other at 1.5 then I cut a circle at 2.25
on the circle I stamped this little penguin guy. In black ink (z2105) I also cut the snowflake from the artiste cartridge out of silver glitter paper (z1829). I used our new shimer trim (I love this stuff!!!) (Z1848)!
I had to add sparkle to his hat and scarf! I love the way this card turned out!

Enjoy!

I made this using Cricut cartridge Artiste exclussive to Close to my Heart. I just got this cartridge for my birthday this year and it hasn't left my cricut sense there are so many great cuts on this cartridge. I will post details of how I made this later but here it is!

Hope your week great!

A little Something....

This is a cute little project I made for my friend Lynn she ordered my creations muslin drawstring bags (Z1822) she wanted them stamped with the stamp set For a Friend (D1542) . I think they turned out really cute and could be used for many different things.

And here is a graduation card I made for our cousin that just graduated from High School this last May.
It didn't photograph as nice but I was happy with it. I embossed it and then cut out the year and grad cap and diploma with my cricut. I don't remember which cartridge it is from. It was done in his school colors. I embellished with some stickles.

Super Hero

This little guy keeps my on my toes and busy, but he is so worth it! He has taken an interest in Super heros and likes to pretend that he is a super hero and has super strength. So we went to the fabric store so he could pick out some fabric to make his very own cape!
I would like to think that I can sew perfectly and everything comes out perfect the first time but then that would be a lie. Since we are trying to teach my son that it is not nice to lie..
I got the Idea off of Pintrest read some instructions but then made up my own.
Not that you can tell but the collar I tried it twice before I setteled on the outcome I first tried to just put some velcro on the ends but he likes to jump around and well it just wasnt working for him. so back to the drawing board took a piece of scrap material cut it down sewed it together threaded some ribbion and sewed that onto the cape now he can easily take it off himself (still needs help putting it on)

Cut out an A For super Al...ex on my cricut after watching some youtube videos to make sure I was doing it right. I made it a little big for him so hopefully we will get a few years worth of use out of this project!

The stamp set I used was Family Love (D1506) The paper came from our Dream Pop paper pack. This was the first time I have tried my hand at a home decor piece.

Happy Crafting!

Reflections

I have been inspired lately by the Reflections book from Close to My Heart. It has a lot of good ideas, for scrap book layouts and I love how simple the instructions are to follow. I have been doing a few layouts since my sister in law Maranda emailed me about scrap booking it got me wanting to work on my 2011 book so I can actually finish it and move on to 2012. Looking through the pictures makes me reminiscent of when Alex was so little and just learning how his world works, now he is almost three and well he is very active keeps me on my toes most days.

so here is a page I think its from around April of 2011 so about 2 years ago. I followed the layouts from the Reflections book.
this layout is from page 20 Tittle Topper

and this one is from page 108 Perfect Square

As you can see I am not "finished" with these pages yet, just doing the layouts for now and in a few weeks I will go back and do the embellishment part of the layouts.  With this Album I have challenged myself to use Stripe paper on every layout (mostly because I have a LOT of stripe paper), I am drawn to stripes, when I look at all the pretty papers out there. I will post the finished product at another time so stay tuned!

Thanks for Visiting me

Hunter Teddy

Here is the Teddy Bear Birthday card I made for my father in law I love this cartridge, so much you can do with it!

I cut the bear at 3 inches flocked it with brown and white flocking
The hat is from the fishing bear along with the vest. His pants and shirt are from the teacher bear I modified it a bit. the little bow (it had and arrow, my two year old got a hold of my tape gun and well the arrow was gone.) came from the cherub bear little googly eyes and stickles for the nose.

The Happy Birthday was cut from birthday bash cartridge!

This was a fun card to make!

Christmas Presents for the grandparents 2012

Thought I would share the christmas presents that were for the grandparents this year. Alex loves to paint so we went to Michaels and got some canvas (on sale) and he painted. Once they dried we painted his had white and then put his hand print on top of all the colors he painted then Mommy painted the edges black. It was a lot of fun! Messy but fun. As he gets older I hope to do more crafts with him. I enjoy it.

Working on his master piece
Not bad for a 2 year old! He loves to paint!

Such concentration!

The finish product!

Not bad !

Moving my old blog

In the next few days I will be moving my old blog posts over here. The projects from the other blog are before I was a Independent Consultant for Close to My heart. These projects I like a lot, So I thought I would move them here.
This first project is a Birthday Card for my mom done back in November. I really like how it turned out.

I don't get to do too many girly things so I enjoyed making this and she enjoyed receiving it as well.

I used two different embossing folders on this Cutlebug Happy birthday and divine swirls it was a bit tricky to do but I love the way it turned out!

The flowers are from Cricut cartridge Kate's ABCs
and the ribbon was from my stash not sure where it came from.

I used the liquid pearls to add some dimension to the front and some pretty color as well. Oh and I used some Stickles on the flowers to make them pretty.

The inside had a nice sentiment.
The idea for this card came from Pintrest. Simple but yet meaningful!
Thanks for stopping by!

Butterflies

I love spring time! The flowers the sunshine, the new beginnings   the warmth the butterflies... so here is a card done with a butterfly and I love the way it turned out!

This was done with stamp set Bugs and Hugs (D1535) Stamped the butterfly twice once directly on the card to get the brown antenas the second time was with Lagoon ink and I cut it out. then used my water color pencils .
the grass is also a stamp from the Bugs and Hugs set
I colored the flowers with the water colored pencils.

The Sentiment came from the same stamp set.
I cut the little tag from my cricut, and inked the edges.

I know who I am going to send this to, and I think they will enjoy it!
Hope your week is fantastic!

It is hard to tell but the Happy Birthday is in Cotton candy ink
as is the flower. I really like this stamp set so many possibilities with it!

Cleaning and Organizing!

This weekend I spent most of Saturday cleaning organizing and going through my scrap room. Mostly because I wanted to make it easier to work in and my desk space had been over run by a lot of mess and I found it hard to get anything done on it.

Here are some pictures of what my room looks like now that it is cleaned and ready to be used again!

My new Wall shelf I got at Michaels!

My cardstock

my other paper area and pictures storage area
(small expedite shelf from Ikea)

my expedite shelf unit from Ikea

more ribbon storage

my nice clean desk
I love my own room to be able to create and and not have to always pack things up. Before we moved to our house the dinning area of our town home became my scrap book area and as much as it worked for me it was hard to keep it clean and keep the child out of it all.

Have a wonderful week!
