I am Back!

I started this blog over 4 years ago. I wanted a place to showcase my scrapbook pages, my cards, and my other crafts. I was also with the company Close to My Heart. Since then I am no longer selling CTMH, we have added to our family, and have moved. It has been a crazy 4 years but I wouldn't change it for anything.

As the new year approaches I have been thinking a lot about what I want for this new year. For myself and my family. I once again am in a place where I would like to showcase my craftiness, as that is what I really enjoy. Right now I don't get a lot of time to do my crafts as I have my one year old to take care of as well as my 8 year old.

I still really enjoy making cards, in fact I have been able to sell some of my cards recently and I have enjoyed doing so. I also enjoy scrap booking as it was my first hobby. I have also enjoyed making gifts for my family. Or just personalizing our home decorations.
In the next few weeks I will post some of what I have done recently and in the past. Some of my favorite projects that I have completed.

Please bare with me as I take this leap and try to get back into blogging again.

Cupcakes Yum!

Today I had to make a birthday card for a class mate of my sons! I asked him what color I should make the card, it is for a girl so he said pink.

I made this card using the same glitter technique I did the embossing glitter card I did last weekend.
This time I tried to take step by step pictures in order to explain it better. I know I am a visual person so I hope this helps. Again this card is made entirely out of scraps, even the base this time!

This card is a 6x6 the first layer is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 and the white layer is 5 x 5
I used Close to my heart stamp set Birthday that came with the cricut cartride Artiste, I stamped the cupcake in Cotton Candy, Pixie ink and then cut out the cupcake using the cricut at 2 inches then cut out the top and the wrapper and staped the wrapper with Saddle ink and the top with Holly hock.

What girl doesn't like glitter especially a preschooler!

I used this spray adhesive to attach the dryer sheet

I then trimmed down the sides

Poured my glitter on top
Set it aside to let dry probably 10 mins while i finished up the remaining cuts
Then I took off the dryer sheet
( be prepared for glitter mess I keep baby wipes on had
it picks up the glitter off my table )

I then attached the cut out cupcake using 3d foam
and attached Birthday girl cut using the artiste cartridge again.
Decided that it needed a little extra so I used some gems from my stash for the tops of the cupcakes and the I in birthday. I added this little sentiment on the inside and decided to use another cupcake stamp for along the bottom!

Tomorrow is the little girls party I just hope I can feel better before then!

Hope this has helped

Goals!

This year is a year to set some goals.
My crafting goals this year is to try and scrap book more! I am scrap booking 2012 so that means I am two years and two months behind on my scrap book. Before I had my son I was almost always caught up. But I wouldn't trade it for the world!

My other crafting goal is to use my scraps more and to use my stash of goodies that I have been hoarding! I finally have arranged my Scrap/craft room a way I like and so far it has been easy to manage. I need to clean it up a bit but I will do a post on my room soon!

I have also been going through clutter especially in my craft room, my closet is full of clutter and it drives me crazy can never find anything and things just get piled higher and higher in it! For the closet my motto has been if I haven't used it in the two years that we have been at our house then I don't need it!

Another Goal that I have for myself is to actually make and send out birthday cards to my family. I do all right the first part of the year but by the time we get to November, my moms birthday month, I fail miserably!

I know this isn't about a specific card or layout or crafting project but I need to write out my goals so that I can keep myself accountable. I do have some fun crafts that I did around the holidays to share and some more scrap book layouts.

Have a Great day!

Valentines Day!

This is the first year my son gets to hand out valentines to his class. He is in preschool. My husband and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day as a special holiday. We love each other through out the year and don't feel like we need to show it on just one day of the year, although he usually does get me a little something this year it was tulips that once they are done in the house I can plant them in my garden. We don't exchange cards so I don't make him any. For him this year I am going to make breakfast, which I do sometimes anyways but it is mostly for my son as well.

As for my son's valentines for his class i decided to make some instead of buying them from the store. Yes he wanted to buy the planes fire and rescue cards he saw at the store. I then told him that I had made some for his class. this way I can make the exact number and not have left overs, on a side note my mom has ALL of our left overs from when my brothers and I were in school she sends them to her grandchildren.
Anyways here are the cards I made for his class mates!

I used Cricut cartridge Teddy Bear Parade. Using my scraps to cut the bears at 3 1/4 inch then the heart as well. I used some background paper i had in my stash and the card bases are some cardstock that I am trying to use up. on the inside I stamped Happy Valentines day and had my son write his name. I thought they turned out cute!

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day, tomorrow, and a great weekend!

Glitter Embossing

I have been working on some cards this last week. Trying out a new technique, that I have been wanting to try for sometime. Came up with this card and I absolutely love it!

I used scraps to make this card didn't have to cut into a single new sheet of paper! I am trying to use scraps more then just cutting into new card stock.
So here is what I did (sorry don't have step by step pictures to go with how I did this card)

I took my card base and embossed the front with a Darice embossing folder. I then took crystal blue ink and Thistle ink and sponged over the top of the embossing.

The next step was to give it the sparkle to accomplish this I did the dryer sheet technique.
Took a used dryer sheet, some spray adhesive and glued it to the top of my card,
trimmed down the dryer sheet to size.
I then took my Prisma glitter and covered the dryer sheet. I let it set for a couple of hours as I wasn't sure what I was going to do next and had a few errands to run.
When we got home I didn't like how the dryer sheet looked on the card,
so I took it off and was left with just some glitter and the inked embossing.
I then took my crystal blue card stock and cut two butterfly's with my cricut using the Artiste cartridge, along with the tag at the bottom for my sentiment.
I again used Thistle ink and stamp set Bugs and Hugs for the sentiment and the sponging around the tag. Used some pearls from my stash to add that little extra something,
I am very happy with the way this turned out!

Here is the close up where you can see the glitter, really the pictures just don't do it justice though.

Hope you enjoy this card as much as I do.

Happy Scrapping!

Thinking of you

I enjoy making cards. I still have a lot to learn about making cards and I feel like I am a lot better at scrap booking then cardmaking but everyone seems to like my cards.
So here is a pretty simple card.

The card sketch came from CTMH Make it from your heart volume 1 pattern number 30
using White daisy, Olive, and Brushed papers
I used CTMH Pixi, Sweet Leaf, and Topiary inks

The Stamp set I used is Pretty Petals (C1599)

I love this stamp set. Since I live in a house of boys I don't get to scrapbook very many girly things. So I enjoy making girly cards.
If you would like to purchase any of the supplies used in this card you can do so by visiting

Just like Mommy and Daddy...

The next two layouts I love the way they turned out. My son loves to do and try what mommy and daddy have. When he was younger we drank a lot of coke. He got a hold of an unopened can and try to drink some. He doesn't like soda and I am trying to keep it that way. I am proud to say that I stopped drinking any type of soda a year ago. I have an occasional soda but not on a daily basis and I feel so much better with out it. Sorry got side tracked.

Here are the layouts I have for you today.
